DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME, or Lets stop lying about what time it is.

Has Greenwich Royal Observatory snuck an hour east? Has Stonehenge's stones mystically realigned? Has the sun overhead got offset by some cosmic quirk? No, no, and absolutely no. The universe is steady—solar noon is solar noon. So why do we yank clocks twice a year?

It ain't time changing'; it's us changing' when we do things, disguised as a clock shift.

And look, I ain't complaining' about gettin' home while the sun's still up—that extra light lets me walk, exercise, garden, or just sit out back. Dark mornings? I handle 'em fine with coffee. But coming' home in the dark after a long day? That grinds.

Now, the origin story: Ol' Ben Franklin's 1784 letter was pure satire—a joke poking' Parisians for sleeping' through mornin' sun and burnin' candles late. Wake earlier, tax shutters, ring bells at dawn? Tongue-in-cheek to save wax. No clock-shift proposal. Ben never "invented" DST.

Real start: WWI, Germany/Austria pushed clocks ahead April 1916 to save coal. U.S. joined 1918 (Wilson), repealed 1919 (farmers hated it), back for WWII year-round, then patchwork till 1966 Uniform Time Act standardized it. Extensions since.

Early energy logic faded—modern studies show tiny savings (often <1%, offset by AC). Lives on via inertia and retail lobbyin'.

But we don't gotta lie anymore.

Lock clocks on honest standard time (natural baseline, closest to solar noon). No pretend noon drift. No artificial jet-lag, health hits (heart spikes, accidents post-spring), circadian mess.

We still get evening' light—through voluntary compliance, not mandate. Congress sets fixed time and old switch dates (March/Nov).

Then let entities (businesses, schools, employers, cities/counties/states) adjust hours twice a year if it suits 'em. Typical 8-5 becomes 7:30-4:30 seasonally or year-round. Roofers start early, beat the heat, and finish with the sun. Retail opens earlier for crowds. Schools flex bells. Hybrid folks are already seasonal-shifted. Most who want evenin' light will do it naturally.

This honors freedom: Never give up control to government except when truly needed—even if what they ask matches what you'd do anyway. Current system's paternalistic—politicians dictating' rhythm for uneven gains. Let the sun set the beat; let free folks adapt schedules. No coercion, just choice. Arizona/Hawaii proves fixed time works seamlessly.

It's logical: Stop pretending. Keep clocks true. Voluntary shifts deliver goods. Real liberty—no top-down fiddle.
